10 YEARS OF LEGAL EXCELLENCE!
Join us on a journey through the corridors of Hildebrand Attorneys, meeting the team, where legal intricacies meet a camaraderie that feels like family!
As Managing Attorney of Hildebrand Attorneys, Jan Hildebrand is passionate about quality legal advice that is tangible and adds value. Born in Germany, he completed his schooling in Cape Town and thereafter obtained Bachelor degrees in Business Science (B.BusSc) and Law (LLB) from the University of Cape Town.
Jan was admitted as at attorney in 2005 and thereafter spent a further 6 years at an international law firm with particular exposure to German Law and private international law. He has significant experience in property law from normal sale transactions to life right agreements and property developments, estate planning, the administration of deceased estates, and High Court litigation. Over the years Jan assumed various roles as director, trustee and board committee member of a number of profit and non-profit structures.
Throughout his career Jan has trained and mentored numerous Candidate Legal Practitioners (previously articled clerks) who have since become admitted attorneys and training and development has been close to his heart ever since his days at High School and in university where he would tutor students in all kinds of subjects.
The Firm embraces diversity and sees itself as a South African firm of attorneys with particular focus on international clients who invest in and emigrate to South Africa. The Firm understands that due to increased regulations in all spheres of life and the intricacies and risk of litigation, strategic thinking is critical when analysing and advising clients. Hildebrand Attorneys appreciates the responsibility which clients wish to place with their attorneys, an understanding of both the pecuniary aspects involved as well as the emotional and physical challenges clients face who are engaged in litigation and negotiations pertaining to commercial matters.
Whilst Jan can’t keep a beat on the dance floor, he does in fact have drumming experience and played in several bands, from time to time still plugging his kit up!
After completing her LLB, LLM and Practical Legal Training, Namhla began her journey as a Candidate Legal Practitioner at Hildebrand Attorneys in 2019. The period of articles/vocational training exposed her to the knowledge and intricacies of the profession, and what she especially enjoyed was the hands-on approach and the varied areas of the law she got to experience. It was a fulfilling period for her as she met clients from across the world with unique issues, requiring tailor-made legal solutions. During this period her principal and colleagues walked her through the many pitfalls and key issues, exposing her to different regulations, statutes, precedents, and strategies.
Initially being concerned that the national lockdown due to Covid-19 would present a challenge to her learning experience, the Firm’s international client base, in addition to the nature of the legal work at Hildebrand Attorneys, ensured that Namhla continued to have lots of practical work, including immigration matters, property transfers, contractual drafting assignments, deceased estates and virtual High Court litigation, which prepared her well for her admissions exams and ultimately qualifying as an Attorney.
As a full-service boutique law firm which renders advice in various sectors of the law, the clients benefit from well-rounded attorneys, who can connect the dots and provide comprehensive solutions. Furthermore, at Hildebrand Attorneys the size of the firm allows for direct interaction with its clients and building lasting relationships. As a person who thrives off nuance, Namhla enjoy keeping clients informed, including communicating the intricacies of legal strategy and solutions at hand, given her exposure to different fields of the law.
Currently, as an Associate of the Firm heading the Conveyancing Department, Namhla is happy to say that Hildebrand Attorneys can strike the right balance between legal work that is of a high standard, which is timeously executed and done in a transparent manner.
Namhla finds it very satisfying to be in a profession where one’s job is getting people out of trouble. When she is not busy being a desk-plant killer, she enjoys being a beacon of hope to clients at a time when their options appear to be limited, a role shared by the other professionals at Hildebrand Attorneys!
Hello! I'm Vusa a proud member of the Hildebrand Attorneys team. My experience at Hildebrand Attorneys is one of interest and growth of skillset set in a blend of research, hands-on-learning and execution of newly acquired skills leading to refinement.

Vusa loves debating and will take on any topic to tackle! This could go easily start over coffee in the morning and end over a glass of wine at the end of the day!
If he is not looking to taste-test good food, he is out on the basketball court or hitting the Saturday morning park run to refuel!
Welcome to Hildebrand Attorneys, where professionalism meets passion! As a candidate attorney at our close-knit law firm, Ayla brings a diverse blend of interests and experiences to the table. Outside the office, you’ll find me immersed in the pages of a good book, staying active with outdoor adventures and cherishing quality time with my family – including our beloved dogs. But there’s more to Ayla than just legal acumen; she's currently training for her first 10km race and rediscovering the joy of horse riding.
In the office, she approaches her role with the same enthusiasm and dedication that fuels her extracurricular pursuits. Her role at the firm isn’t just about drafting documents and attending court; it’s about fostering a positive atmosphere and building strong relationships with both colleagues and clients.
In her own words: 'With my passion for law, love for creativity, and zest for life, I aim to bring a dynamic energy to our team'!
Aleks is an LLB graduate from the North-West University, in Potchefstroom. After finishing her Law degree in 2021, she endeavoured to enrich her legal competencies at the Law Society of South Africa L.E.A.D Law School. She started her articles at Hildebrand Attorneys in August 2022 and has attended to various matters ranging from immigration law to deceased estates and litigation, as well as conveyancing.
With a keen interest in Family Law and Children’s Rights, which stemmed from her final-year mini-dissertation, Aleks aspires to be a part of the solution to the shortcomings in the enforcement of current adoption regulations.
Aleks is an asset to the firm as she drives the team’s participation in various community day initiatives, including the NCPS’s Casual Day 2023 and the Santa’s Shoebox Project 2023.
Ayla is an animal lover, even though she has a fear of snakes. What the office may (on may not) know about her is that she can cook a mean Thai green curry!
Aleks - When she’s not busy tending to clients and the office greenery, she can be found being dragged up a mountain for a hike with friends! She also cooks a mean sweet and sour pork (which is yet to be confirmed by the Hildebrand Attorneys-team)!
